Once upon a time, there was a village of potters called La Borne, comfortably nestled in the heart of the forest and vineyards, in a small corner of Berry, not far from Bourges...
Discreet and famous for its ceramic creations since the 15th century, this village is populated with only 200 souls.
What makes this village so special ?
Its ground!!!
Particularly rich in sandstone, the inhabitants of this hamlet have succeeded in creating real pottery thanks to the assimilation of new firing techniques at over 1200°.
A practice that became common and essential to the life of the inhabitants, from the 15th century.
However, little by little, these popular objects became true art objects and collectors' items, until in the 19th century, the village became home to the most prestigious potters and ceramists of the country, such as Marie Talbot.
And today, is La Borne still as well known as it once was?
Yes, it is!
Artists from all over the world open the doors of their charming and authentic store. You will discover exceptional pottery and ceramics.
A site that has become a must for everyone who stops in Berry.
What you will like ?
To see these craftsmen practicing their know-how directly in their workshops. A mixture of finesse and perfect imperfections!
So are you ready to find unique pieces?
We assure you: your happiness is at La Borne!
