Typical Berry villages to discover

In their green setting, the picturesque villages of the Berry region promise you wonders

Gargilesse-Dampierre

Welcome to one of the most beautiful villages in France. This is not us saying it, but the French label, created in 1982. If you are looking for a place to spend some quality time together, you have come to the right place!

In the hollow of the Creuse valley, Garglisse-Dampierre was George Sand's favourite refuge. She used to invite her painter friends to colour their paintings in harmony with the soul of the village. Today, visitors enjoy immersing themselves in her life in her house, the Villa Algira.

Apremont-sur-Allier

The Berry region has several villages that have been labelled as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Let's take a look at Apremont-sur-Allier. On the banks of the Allier, the hamlet has an exceptional floral park dominated by an equally magnificent castle.

During your walk through this Berrichon territory, take the time to observe every detail: the houses with turrets, the longères, the half-timbered houses, the flowers... Everything will remind you of the 19th century as if the village was frozen in time.

Saint-Benoît-du-Sault

Saint-Benoît-du-Sault is a medieval village in the Indre department, also classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Nestled on a rock between the Limousin and Berry regions, it was the scene of rivalries between France and England.

Stroll through its narrow streets to discover its ramparts, its old houses, its belfry or the Romanesque church and the priory of Saint-Benoît.

One of the French heritage museums is a must-see during your stay in the region: the Maison de l'Argentier.

Drevant

A short diversions to the ancient city of Drevant in the heart of France. It is one of the "Petites Cités de Caractère" of our country. We invite you to explore its spectacular Gallo-Roman archaeological site or the sanctuary and the buried thermal baths.

Discover Drevant from a different angle by going on board an electric boat. This bucolic trip on the Berry canal will allow children to pass their captain's diploma for their greatest pleasure.

La Borne

La Borne is an unavoidable stop for art, pottery and nature lovers. Indeed, this French hamlet is known as the capital of ceramics.

Located in the commune of Henrichemont, the village has an ideal location for producing stoneware pottery in the heart of the forest. La Borne has been a master in the creation of pottery since the 15th century by exploiting the natural resources of the area.

As you stroll through the village, you will come across dozens of houses where potters display their work. Would you like to get your hands dirty? Workshops are offered throughout the year on site.
