Vierzon Museum

The team of the Hotel Continental in Vierzon likes to share with you the rich history of the city.

The museum of Vierzon is installed in the premises that produced until 1995 famous agricultural equipment (locomobiles, threshing machines, etc ..) including the famous tractors Société Française Vierzon (SFV).

The exhibition of 600m² allows to discover the various industries that have developed within the city: agricultural machinery, porcelain, glass or clothing. Thematic presentations are regularly renewed and allow to discover the heritage of Vierzon.

Ceramics, glass and confection

At the beginning of the 20th century, Vierzon counted about ten ceramic factories.

The railway in Vierzon and France

Arrived in 1847, the railway quickly allowed Vierzon to benefit from being at the railway junction of the country. You will find in this exhibition an important background related to the history of the railroad in France, with a rich collection of posters, tools, drawings, models and models presented.

Capital of agricultural machinery in France

There is no longer the famous brand of tractors The French Society (SFV) Vierzon which has made its reputation across France. Vierzon was at the beginning of the 20th century, a major center of production of agricultural machinery: locomobiles, threshers, tractors ...

Everything will have started with Célestin Gérard, a carpenter by training and an inventive entrepreneur who will settle in Vierzon in 1848 and will develop many agricultural machines. The house of Célestin Gérard, located opposite the station and at the entrance of the old factory is now occupied by a restaurant. You will notice the facade adorned with a multitude of symbols in reference to the functions of its owner.

Free admission for individuals.
